Santos KPS FSO Project

Santos is developing the KPS FSO Project, which involves a Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) vessel connected to the existing Kutubu Pipeline System (KPS). SEA Global has been engaged to carry out engineering for the define phase, FEED, and detailed design covering the system from the tie-in point at the Kumul Marine Terminal to the FSO. This has extended into execution phase support. A highly qualified engineering and project management team provided specialized support for all project phases, operating from the SEA Perth office.

SEA Global completed engineering across the define phase, FEED, detailed design, and execution support for a 19 km, 20-inch pipeline transportation system.

The scope of work encompassed steady-state and transient thermohydraulic flow assurance modeling to confirm expected performance, detailed engineering for the pipeline system, and structural design for two subsea PLEMs with piled foundations and spools supports. It also involved developing integrated solutions for floating systems, including riser configuration and mooring design. Furthermore, the team managed material selection, procurement tender evaluations, technical support for the partial replacement of aged infrastructure, and the design of subsea spools, connection hardware, and commissioning strategies.

Scope of Work

Flow Assurance Design

Steady-state and transient thermohydraulic modelling was undertaken to confirm the expected operational performance.

Integrated Floating Systems, Riser, and Moorings

Developed integrated solutions for floating units (including offtake), including riser configuration and mooring system design for safe offshore operation.

Materials Selection and Procurement Support

Specified materials for procurement, and evaluated tenders for company provided items.

Support through Execution Phase

Provided technical support during the execution phase to ensure alignment of contractor capabilities with project requirements.

Subsea Structure Design

Designed two subsea PLEMs utilizing piled foundations, and piled supports for the tie-in spools.

Pre-commissioning and Commissioning Strategy

Technical support provided for the partial replacement of aged offshore infrastructure and installation of the new assets.

Spools, Hardware, and Connection Systems

Designed spools and connection hardware to ensure safe and efficient tie-ins between subsea components.

Pipeline Design

Detailed engineering for the pipeline system to ensure reliable and efficient hydrocarbon transport from the onshore production sites to the FSO facility.
