The Offshore Detail Design includes the offshore raw gas pipelines, tie-ins to the subsea trees, manifold and offshore umbilical. This work will be led from SEA’s Perth office. The Execution Support includes providing project personnel to support engineering and construction tendering and procurement for the whole development from GB Energy’s, Melbourne office.
Afton Galbraith, General Manager at SEA Global, said “SEA is excited to be part of the Golden Beach Energy Storage Project and providing our expertise in offshore development engineering and execution support. We are well placed to provide support to GBE as they execute their project.” SEA has worked with GB Energy on previous phases of the project, providing preliminary engineering design of the offshore system.
GB Energy is developing the Golden Beach gas field located in the Gippsland Basin, approximately 4 km offshore from the Ninety Mile Beach coastline. The field, discovered in 1967, lies within Victorian waters. The development will occur in two phases, with the first phase focused on gas production for sale within the eastern Australian gas network. The second phase will be the transition of the field into a gas storage facility allowing storage of gas in the Golden Beach reservoir for future recovery. This will play a critical role during transition as it provides energy storage equivalent to hundreds of batteries.
Gas from the field will be compressed for sale at a newly established, stand-alone compressor station located approximately 14 km inland from the field. A pressure regulation and metering facility will be installed adjacent to the Jemena Longford Compressor Station. The sales gas pipeline will connect the compressor station to the metering facility. Connections from the metering facility to the Jemena Longford Compressor Station and APA Longford VTS Metering Station will allow gas to flow into and out of the Victorian Transmission System (VTS) and the Eastern Gas Pipeline.
GB Energy CEO Tim Baldwin stated: “We are pleased to continue to work with SEA on the journey to FID. SEA has always brought professionalism and innovative solutions to the development, and we believe the partnership-based approach that we have taken positions the project for ongoing success.”
